What should I do if my water tastes metallic?

Water is an extremely good solvent and has a natural tendency to dissolve metals or other materials and this can cause a strange taste. Metallic tastes are usually associated with the plumbing inside your property and can be caused by new plumbing, corroded iron, copper or zinc pipes or wrongly fitted pipes.  It can be particularly noticeable in water from the hot water system. To get rid of the taste run your tap briefly in the morning if the water has been standing overnight.

If you are concerned about your water quality, you can contact us via our simple online form, select Water Quality from the options.
