Project updates

Update 13 October 2017

We have now laid the final section of pipe along the bridge on Reading Road.

Next week we will be commissioning the new pipeline and reinstating the road.

We expect to re-open Reading Road, Vicarage Lane, Bottle Lane and Red Hill by the end of Friday (20 October) although we will re-open these roads sooner if we can.

Update 10 October 2017

We have now started the final section of our work along Reading Road and have laid the majority of new pipe across the bridge.

This week we will complete work to lay this final section of pipe. We will also be starting work to pressure test the new pipeline before commissioning the new main.

Once the pipeline has successfully passed the pressure test, we will reinstate the road. We are working as hard as we can to complete this work and we will keep you updated on the date we expect to re-open Reading Road, Vicarage Lane, Bottle Lane and Red Hill.

Update 29 September 2017

We have now installed the majority of our new pipe along Reading Road.

This week we have carried out two connections on the new pipe ready to be connected to the existing network after the new pipe has been pressure tested.

Next week we will start pressure testing the new main before we start work to lay the remaining 70 metres of pipe along the bridge around 250 metres south of Vicarage Lane. We expect this section to take longer as we have to use open cut techniques to install this section of pipe.

We would like to thank local residents and motorists for your patience during this important work.

Update 21 September 2017

Thank you to local residents for your ongoing patience while we lay our new pipe as part of our final phase along Reading Road.

Progress on site is good and we have now laid over 1,000 metres of new pipe along Reading Road and Red Hill. For the remainder of this week and next week we will be working to connect the pipework together and to our existing network.

Once this work has been completed, we need to return to Reading Road to lay the new pipe along the bridge. Due to the complexity of this section, we will need to revert to open cut techniques which we expect to take slightly longer than the directional drilling technique we have used to lay the majority of the new pipeline.

Update 14 September 2017

We have now laid more than 450 metres of new pipe along Reading Road starting from the Vicarage Lane junction. In total, we have just over 1,200 metres of new pipe to lay as part of the final phase.

This week we will continue to lay the new pipe working south along Reading Road.

Thank you to local residents and motorists for your patience. We can assure you we are working as fast as we can to complete the final phase of this important project.

Update 1 September 2017

We would like to thank local residents and motorists for your patience while we work along Reading Road.

Road closures are also in place along Vicarage Lane, Bottle Lane and Red Hill. Please bear with us while we work here and continue to follow the diversion route via London Road and Bracknell Lane.

We know roadworks are a pain but we are working as quickly as we can to lay the new water main.

To lay the new main we are using directional drilling techniques. This week we have dug a number of trenches and we have started installing the new main.
We will keep you updated on our progress.

Update 21 August 2017

Thank you for your patience while we work on the final phase of our scheme along Reading Road in Hook.

If you’re heading to The Wellington Game Fair and Horse Trial event this weekend (Saturday 26 August and Monday 28 August), please allow extra time and follow the singed diversion route.

Visitors travelling to the event from the Basingstoke and Hook areas should follow the diversion via London Road (A30) and Bracknell Lane (B3011) or the A33.

Update 17 August 2017

Work on the final phase of our project along Reading Road will start on Monday (21 August).

This will see the remainder of the pipeline laid along a section of Reading Road between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane. We expect this to take approximately 13 weeks to complete.

To allow our workforce to safely lay this last section of water main, a road closure will be in place along Reading Road between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane. Road closures will also be in place along Red Hill, Bottle Lane and Vicarage Lane to discourage motorists from using these roads as rat run routes.

Motorists who do not live in these areas should follow the diversion route: Griffin Way South – London Road – Bracknell Lane – Reading Road (Heckfield) and Hound Green.

We know roadworks are frustrating for local residents but we would ask that you bear with us during this work.

Regular updates will be available on this page.

Update 5 July 2017

We have now completed the second phase of our scheme and will be demobilising from the area. We will return on 21 August to install the third phase between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane.

There will be on-going communication for all residents about our planned start and diversion routes in the near future.

We are holding a drop-in session on 5 July 2017 at Heckfield Memorial Hall, Church Lane, Heckfield, RG27 OLG from 16:00 to 19:00.

Thank you to local residents and motorists for your patience while this work continues.

Update 26 June 2017

We have now completed the second phase of our work along Reading Road and we plan to start the final phase on 21 August 2017.

The final phase will see the remainder of the pipe laid along a section of Reading Road between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane and is expected to take approximately 14 weeks to complete.

To allow our workforce to safely lay this last section of water main, a road closure will be in place along Reading Road between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane.

After consultation with local parish councils and highways department, road closures will also be in place along Red Hill, Bottle Lane and Vicarage Lane to discourage motorists from using these roads as rat run routes.

Our project team will be holding a drop-in session for local businesses and residents to find out more about the scheme and answer any concerns you may have.

This will take place between 4.15pm and 6.45pm on Wednesday 5 July 2017 at Heckfield Memorial Hall, Church Lane, Heckfield, RG27 0LG.

Thank you to local residents and motorists for your patience while this work continues.
