West Heath Road, Farnborough

Update 20 October 2017

We will be starting work to connect our new pipeline to the wider water network in Prospect Road from Monday.

To keep the public and our workforce safe, temporary traffic lights will be in place for two weeks. Thank you to the local community for your ongoing patience and cooperation.

Update 13 October 2017

We will be completing our work to temporarily reinstate our working area at the junction with Cove Road and Southwood Road and hope to remove the traffic lights here next Tuesday (17 October). We will need to return here as we haven’t been able to remove equipment needed to pressure test the new pipe.

Next week we will be continuing our work at Cove Brook before we move onto our connection work at Prospect Road.

For the safety of the public and our workforce, traffic lights will be in place for two weeks on Prospect Road from Monday 23 October to connect our new pipeline to the existing network.

Update 6 October 2017

Today we successfully carried out work to connect our new pipeline to the existing network in Cove Road.

Traffic lights will now remain in place at the junction with Southwood Road until Friday 20 October. We know this is inconvenient but we will be removing equipment used to pressure test the new main while we are here so we will not need to come back to this section.

Once this work has been completed, we will be moving to the junction of West Heath Road and Prospect Road to lay the final section of pipe and connect it to the existing network.

For the safety of the public and the crew on site, temporary traffic lights will be in place between Monday 23 October and 3 November.

Thank you to local residents and motorists for your patience.

Why are we doing this work?

To ensure our customers in the area continue to enjoy top quality and reliable tap water, South East Water will be laying a new water main along Fleet Road, Cove Road and West Heath Road, Farnborough.

The £750,000 scheme will improve the capacity of the network and ensure we can continue to meet water demand in the Farnborough area.

When will the work take place?

Work on this important project will begin on Monday 23 January 2017 and is expected to take approximately 38 weeks to complete. However our contractor, Clancy Docwra, will be working as quickly and safely as possible.

Where are we working?

The scheme will see a 1.3 kilometre section of new pipe laid along a section of Fleet Road, Cove Road and West Heath Road, Farnborough.

To ensure the safety of the public and our contractor while the new pipe is laid, we will need to temporarily close West Heath Road. To minimise disruption a rolling road closure will be in place here which means small sections of West Heath Road will be closed while we lay the new pipe and the affected road section will be re-opened before the working area moves along to the next section.

The first section of the work will begin along West Heath Road at the junction with Prospect Road. Until the road closure moves along to Giffard Drive, motorists can use Giffard Drive and Mayfield Road to get to Prospect Road.

Once the working area moves past Giffard Drive, motorists should use Fernhill Road, Mayfield Road, Giffard Drive and re-join West Heath Road.

Temporary lane closures and traffic lights will also be in place along the other affected roads while the new pipe is being laid.

Please be assured that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
