Project updates

Update 13 October 2017

We will be completing our work to temporarily reinstate our working area at the junction with Cove Road and Southwood Road and hope to remove the traffic lights here next Tuesday (17 October). We will need to return here as we haven’t been able to remove equipment needed to pressure test the new pipe.

Next week we will be continuing our work at Cove Brook before we move onto our connection work at Prospect Road.

For the safety of the public and our workforce, traffic lights will be in place for two weeks on Prospect Road from Monday 23 October to connect our new pipeline to the existing network.

Update 6 October 2017

Today we successfully carried out work to connect our new pipeline to the existing network in Cove Road.

Traffic lights will now remain in place at the junction with Southwood Road until Friday 20 October. We know this is inconvenient but we will be removing equipment used to pressure test the new main while we are here so we will not need to come back to this section.

Once this work has been completed, we will be moving to the junction of West Heath Road and Prospect Road to lay the final section of pipe and connect it to the existing network.

For the safety of the public and the crew on site, temporary traffic lights will be in place between Monday 23 October and 3 November.

Thank you to local residents and motorists for your patience.

Update 29 September 2017

This week we have been working on a footpath next to Cove Brook and we will need to return here at a later date.

Traffic lights remain in place on Cove Road at the junction with Southwood Road. We are waiting for a piece of equipment needed for our connection to arrive and we plan to do this work on Friday (6 October) and then reinstate this area.

We will also be starting to test the new pipeline next week.

Update 21 September 2017

We have now finished laying the new section of our pipe along Fleet Road and the road is now open. We will need to return here for a short period at a later date to remove equipment which helps us pressure test the new pipe.

Traffic lights are currently in place on Cove Road at the junction with Southwood Road. They will remain here until Friday 13 October to allow us to connect the new pipe laid to our existing network. We are currently getting a piece of equipment needed for this connection specially made which has delayed us in this area.

Once this work has been completed, we will need to temporarily return to West Heath Road to connect the new section of pipe laid underneath Cove Brook and connect the new pipeline to our existing network in Prospect Road. We will keep you updated on the planned dates for these pieces of work.

Update 14 September 2017

Our lane closure remains in place along Fleet Road and we still hope to complete this section of work by Monday 18 September despite the number of unchartered utilities.

Once this section of work is complete, we will need to return to carry out work to connect the new pipeline to the existing network on Cove Road at the junction with Southwood Road. This work will be carried out under three-way traffic lights.

Update 1 September 2017

Our lane closure is currently in place along the section of Fleet Road off West Heath Roundabout.

The gang on site has come across a number of unchartered utilities which has slowed progress this week. As a result, we now expect to be working on this section until Monday 18 September.

We are sorry for this delay and we will keep you updated on our progress.

Traffic is now flowing along West Heath Road. We will need to return to the brook to connect the new pipe to the existing network at a later date. We will update you when we have a date for this work confirmed.

Update 21 August 2017

The water levels dropped enough for us to successfully lay our new pipe beneath Cove Brook last week. We hope to lift the road closure currently in place between the junctions of Giffard Drive and Glebe Close as soon as possible. We will keep you updated on this.

From tomorrow we will be moving into the Fleet Road lane from West Heath Roundabout. While this work takes place, no traffic will be able to come into Fleet Road however traffic will be able to exit from Fleet Road to go to West Heath Roundabout. While this section is closed, motorists should use Southwood Road and the A327 to return to Fleet Road.

We expect to be in this section until Sunday 10 September.

While this closure is in place, bus service 10 travelling from Farnborough towards Fleet will be diverted via Minley Road and Trunk Road. This means the bus stops opposite the Plough and Horses, Conway Drive and Ladywood Avenue will not be served. Buses running towards Farnborough will be unaffected. If you have any queries on the bus routes, Stagecoach can be contacted on 0345 121 0190 (option 1) or visit stagecoachbus.com.

We will need to return here at a later date to connect the new pipe.

Update 15 August 2017

Lane closures remain in place on West Heath Roundabout as we continue to lay our new pipe across the roundabout towards Fleet Road.

Work here is progressing well and we expect to move onto Fleet Road on Monday. While this work takes place a temporary road closure will be in place and motorists should follow the diversion route via Southwood Road and A327.

While this closure is in place, bus service 10 travelling from Farnborough towards Fleet will be diverted via Minley Road and Trunk Road. This means the bus stop opposite the Plough and Horses, opposite Conway Drive and Opposite Ladywood Avenue will not be served. Buses running towards Farnborough will be unaffected. If you have any queries on the bus routes, Stagecoach can be contacted on 0345 121 0190 (option 1) or visit stagecoachbus.com.

We hope to start laying our pipe underneath Cove Brook from tomorrow (16 August) but this will be dependent on water levels. A temporary road closure will be in place between Giffard Drive and Blunden Road until this section is complete.

Update 28 July 2017

The traffic lights at the junction of Cove Road and Southwood Road have now been removed and the inside lane of the West Heath Roundabout moving towards Cove Road is temporarily closed.

Next week we will be laying the pipe across this lane and the traffic island before moving across the road and into the inside Lane for Fleet Road. Motorists will need to use the middle lane on West Heath Roundabout and move back across to the Fleet Road access lane if travelling via Fleet Road.

Next week we also hope to begin our work to lay a new section of pipe beneath Cove Brook. This was due to take place this week but the water levels remain too high for this work to be carried out. We now hope to start this work at the middle of next week. The temporary road closure between Giffard Drive and Blunden Road will remain in place while this work takes place.

We would like to thank local residents and motorists for their patience. We know roadworks are frustrating but we are working as quickly as we can to get the new pipe laid.

Update 14 July 2017

We have continued to lay our new main along West Heath Roundabout, moving under the railway bridge. Over the weekend and on Monday, we will be reinstating the area we have been so far and we are hoping to set up three-way traffic lights at the mini roundabout on Cove Road.

After closely liaising with Rushmoor Borough Council, it was agreed that one of the Willow trees that is along the route at Cove Brook will unfortunately have to be removed to allow us to lay the new pipe here.

The decision to remove this tree was not taken lightly but following a specialist survey, the future stability of the tree could not be guaranteed.

We understand this tree is a prominent feature of the local landscape and arrangements will be made for a replacement tree to be planted within the Cove brook area. This will be carried out in autumn which is the best time to plant it.

Work to remove the tree will begin on Monday (17 July).
