New water main installation in Heath Road, West Farleigh

Work on a £180,000 scheme to install a new water main, approximately 750m in length, will take place along Heath Road between Upper Barn Hill and Charlton Road starting on Monday 24 July.

How can we ensure this work is done with minimum disruption to you?

We will be using an underground pipe bursting technique to install this pipe. Pipe bursting is a trenchless method, but will still require a number of pits to install the new main and involves the destruction of the old main whilst the new main is pulled into its place. There will be a pipe above ground during the installation to maintain your supply.

As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and our contractor we need to close Heath Road through traffic only between the junction between Heath Road and Upper Barn Hill and the junction between Heath Road and Charlton Lane.

The diversion route, which has been agreed in conjunction with the Kent County Council Highways department, will be clearly signed for the duration of the work.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times. However your normal access route may need to be changed as the scheme progresses depending on where the roadworks are in relation to your property’s entrance.

When is the work due to start?

Construction is planned to start on Monday 24 July 2017 and the project is expected to be completed around early October, however our contractor’s staff will work as hard as they can to complete the work as quickly and as safely as possible.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.

There may be a short interruption to your water supply during this scheme as we connect our new pipe to the existing network. However you will be notified if this is to happen.
