Water mains work in Freshfield Lane, Danehill, Haywards Heath

Why are we doing this work?

To ensure our customers in the area continue to enjoy top quality tap water, we will be installing new water mains along Freshfield Lane, Danehill.

Previous bursts on these sections of water mains have caused severe disruption to residents in the past and the new pipes will help us to eliminate this problem.

Where are we working?

Work on the two new pipelines, approximately 1255 metres and 1183 metres in length, will take place just north of the junction between Monteswood Lane and Freshfield Lane. Work will then continue along Freshfield Lane terminating just south of Garden Cottage, Freshfield Lane.

During the works a temporary road closure will be in place. It has been agreed with both the East and West Sussex Highways Authorities that this will not only provide suitable safety measures for the public and our workforce, but is the best method for causing as little disruption as possible. It will also reduce the impact of the work on the nearby designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the scheme and access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

When will the work take place?

Construction is planned to start on Monday 9 October 2017 and the project is expected to last approximately 25 weeks, finishing around the middle of April 2018.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.

Our project team will be holding a drop-in session for local businesses and residents to find out more about the scheme and answer any concerns you may have.

This will take place on Thursday 7 September at Danehill Village Hall, London Road, Danehill, East Sussex, RH17 7HS from 5-7pm.
