Odiham to have new water main

Historic Odiham is to have a new water main to future proof its water supply.

South East Water is due to start laying 100 metres of new pipework on 1 September, in a £15,000 investment for the area.

The work, due to be completed mid-October, will be carried out using temporary traffic lights to ensure the safety of residents, motorists and workers.

These will be in place just outside the High Street at the junction with Palace Gate and will go 100 metres west towards Dunleys Hill roundabout. Work will take place in sections so not all of the road will be affected at once.

Chris Love, Delivery Manager at South East Water, said: “Providing a top quality water supply to our customers is our priority, and with planned future development in the area, we need to ensure that this can continue.

“We are aware that the area is very busy, and I would like to assure everyone affected that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

“I would like to thank residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation while we carry out this very important work.”

This work forms part of the Company’s £390 million programme of investment between 2010 and 2015 which will ensure that clean, safe water continues to be delivered
