Our Investment

South East Water is continually investing in pipes, pumping stations and treatment works to secure top quality water supplies across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

The company is half way through a massive £310 million programme to develop new resources, extend and upgrade treatment works and lay new water mains.

This will enable us to tap into more water supplies, treat more water and extend our regional water grid to move water around more easily to drier areas.

Projects we are working on include a £17 million pipeline between Bray, near Maidenhead, and two of the company’s existing service reservoirs in Swinley Forest, Berkshire. This will help us transfer an extra 23 million litres of water every day.

At Blean service reservoirs, near Canterbury, we are carrying out £455,000 of repairs, cleaning and disinfection as part of an on-going reservoir maintenance programme.

And in Cranbrook, in Kent, we are investing £3 million to build a new service reservoir to meet future demand in the area.

Other key improvement schemes include:

  • On-going work on our £25 million scheme to build a 35km strategic main from Bewl Water reservoir to Stubbs Cross, in Kent, to safeguard supplies for Ashford.
  • A £4 million scheme to improve supplies in the Maidstone area by extending and refurbishing Wichling Water Treatment Works.
  • Drilling two new boreholes in East Worldham, near Alton, and Bordon to reach water supplies which are stored deep underground in natural sandstone aquifers.
  • A £2.1 million pipeline scheme to help transfer water between the south coast at Newhaven and north and Mid Sussex.
