Water qualityYour drinking water quality
South East Water supplies top quality drinking water to more than 2.1 million people each day. The quality of your drinking water is monitored at every stage of the treatment process, from the raw water through to the water which comes out of your taps. We take samples every day, and carry out thousands of tests a year at our laboratory in Frimley, Surrey, to ensure the water is safe to drink and of high quality. Nearly three-quarters of the water we supply comes from underground sources, with the remainder from rivers and surface reservoirs.
The quality of the drinking water we supply is monitored by the Drinking Water Inspectorate, which also audits the company to ensure we are complying with the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000.
Customers can also play an important part in protecting tap water quality by following some simple, practical tips on how to look after water in their own home. You can find out more here.
