We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts we have across our network and ensure we continue to supply top quality drinking water.
With this in mind, we’re going to be making some improvements to the water network in your area.
What's going to happen and when?
We’re going to replace around 3,635 metres of water pipes in Drift Road in the Maidenhead area.
The planning for this project is underway and we’re currently aiming to start work in Drift Road on Monday, 21 September 2026. Our teams will work weekdays and some Saturday mornings.
We expect the project to take approximately eight months in total. We’ll do our best to get the work done faster if we can.
Phasing of works

Phase 1 - Drift Road (to the east of A330)
- Work will begin on the eastern section of the project from Monday, 21 September, moving away from the roundabout at Drift Road and Ascot Road (A330).
- We’ll be working in small sections at a time, working eastwards along Drift Road towards Windsor, meaning that residents’ direct access to their properties should only be impacted for a short period while we work outside their home.
- This section of work is expected to take around four months, although we will be pausing work during school holidays in October and December.
- A diversion will be in place via Fifield Lane, Forest Green Road and Ascot Road during this section of work.
Phase 2 - Drift Road (to the west of A330)
- Once the first phase has been completed, work is currently scheduled to follow on in February along Drift Road, from east to west towards the roundabout with Howe Lane.
- During this time, a rolling road closure will be in place as we work in small sections, with a separate diversion in place via Ascot Road, Paley Street, Littlefield Green and Howe Lane, during the course of this section of works.
- This section of work is also expected to take around four months, with the project due to be completed in May 2027.
Please note, these dates are indicative and are subject to change depending on our progress during the project.
Public event
We’ll be hosting a community drop-in event for local residents, businesses and stakeholders to discuss the project and the impact of our works.
This will be held at the Hills Bar at Bird Hills Golf Centre, between 4.30pm and 7pm on Thursday, 16 July 2026.
We’re sorry for the disruption this work is going to cause; we know it’s inconvenient. We’ll do our absolute best to keep it to a minimum.
We’ll maintain access to homes and businesses during this work.
There may be a wait occasionally if we’re working directly outside the entrance to a property just while our team makes the area safe to cross, or complete an element of work such as a concrete pour.
There will be no through route for the duration and the direction you enter from may change during the course of the project.
A rolling road closure will be in place on Drift Road for the safety of motorists, pedestrians and our work force.
Work will be carried out in two phases, starting on the eastern section of the project from Monday, 21 September, moving away from the roundabout at Drift Road and Ascot Road (A330).
Once the first phase has been completed, work is currently scheduled to follow on in February along Drift Road, from east to west towards the roundabout with Howe Lane.
Full details of the phasing and maps showing the diversion routes will be available on this page.
There may be a short interruption to supply when we connect our new pipes to the existing network.
We’ll let those impacted know if this is going to happen at least 48 hours beforehand.
