Key Facts

Location: Station Road, Hailsham

Work: Installing approx. 730 metres of pipeline

Starts: Monday 2 March 2026

Duration: Approx. 17 weeks

Investment: £453,000

We’re planning to lay around 730 metres of additional pipeline in Station Road, Hailsham, to support the network and allow us to provide water to more homes as the community grows.

By laying this pipeline, we can maintain water pressure to existing customers, as well as manage the increased demand in the area.

Together with other projects in Hailsham(opens in a new tab), this will improve the network in the area, providing us with greater flexibility and resilience in the event of an unplanned interruption.

When will work start and how long will it take?

We’re currently planning to start this project on Monday 2 March 2026. We expect the work to take around 17 weeks to complete.

Our team will work Monday to Friday, with weekend work if required.

Will there be roadworks?

This work will take place using a mixture of temporary traffic lights and road closures. We’re working with East Sussex Highways to plan this project to keep disruption to minimum for residents and motorists.

As soon as the details are confirmed we’ll update this page.

This work will take place using a mixture of temporary traffic lights and road closures. We’re working with East Sussex Highways to plan this project to keep disruption to minimum for residents and motorists.

At this stage, the details are not confirmed and as soon as we have more information about road closures, including their dates, durations and any diversion routes, we’ll publish it on this webpage. We’re working closely with East Sussex County Council Highways on this to minimise disruption.

While we know traffic management can be disruptive, the safety of both the public and our workforce is a priority. Road closures will be kept to the shortest duration possible to minimise impact to customers and motorists.

There may be a short interruption to supply when we need to connect the new pipeline to the existing main. However, we’ll let anyone affected by this know at least 48 hours in advance, and whenever possible will avoid peak times of water usage.
