Will my road be closed?

We’re sorry for the disruption this work is going to cause – we know it’s inconvenient. We’ll do our absolute best to keep it to a minimum.

Strangers Lane and Cockering Road

We’ll be working in Strangers Lane and Cockering Road in the first half of the project. This means we’ll need to close these roads whilst we are installing the new water mains.

Thanington Road, Ashford Road and the A28

This section of the project will take place under traffic lights.

We do all we can to minimise disruption to the community when laying new water mains and always look to install pipes in locations which will cause the least disruption, such as grass verges and when in a road, as close to the verge as possible.

In the case of this project, residents and businesses will still be able to access their property, but our team may have to make the working area safe to cross. This may mean waiting while the team does this.

We’ll be working with different methods in different stages of this project. Some work will take place in the road and we will be using a rolling road closure that will change location when our team has finished laying pipe in each section of the road.

This means the direction you enter your property may not be your usual route, or may change as we move along the road. The diversion route will be signposted for the duration of the work and will be available on this webpage.

As with all our roadworks, we always maintain access for emergency services. Emergency services are briefed well in advance. Our team will work as quickly as possible to make working areas safe for emergency vehicles to cross.

As the work will require connections to the existing network, there will be a short interruption in supply. We will notify you in advance when this is due to happen if you are impacted by this.
