Local communities are set to benefit from South East Water's 2026 Community Chest Fund, with a share of £20,000 available for local good causes.
The drinking water company, which has 2.3 million customers across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire, has today (Monday, 23 February) launched its Community Chest Fund. It is open to community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations across its region to apply for donations of up to £2,000.
Last year more than 100 applications were received from charitable organisations across south east England. The decision on where to place the money was taken by a panel of eight South East Water employees from all parts of the business, but all with an interest in raising money for good causes.
These included charities supporting families affected by cancer, community gardens, creating outdoor learning environments and a sensory garden for local schools, and the purchase of equipment for a local hospice.
Tanya Sephton, Customer Services Director, South East Water, said: “We are pleased to once again be launching our Community Chest Fund and helping support our local communities.
“Making sure we are doing the right thing for the environment and society is at the heart of our purpose at South East Water. Over the last four years our Community Chest Fund has provided £80,000 and supported 40 local projects, delivering a positive impact for communities across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire.
“We know this matters to our customers, communities and employees and we are delighted that our Community Chest Fund will help provide a financial boost to develop projects and deliver a truly positive impact right here in our local communities.”
Applications are open to group projects within the water company’s supply area that are water or environment related, or help the young, old or disadvantaged.
All requests for funding are to be submitted by 5pm on Monday, 30 March. Successful organisations will be informed about their funding from early April, with the presentations of the grants taking place soon afterwards.
