Over a third of South East Water’s energy requirements will be sourced by renewable energy, thanks to the signing of its largest UK corporate Power Purchase Agreement (cPPA) with EDF power solutions UK.
The new partnership is a key step in South East Water’s commitment to be a low carbon sustainable business and will see the drinking water only company sourcing the green, renewable energy from 102MW Stranoch onshore wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The 20-turbine site is currently under construction and due to be operational next year.
The site will provide South East Water with enough energy to power 33 average-sized water treatment works for a year.

“This is a key step on our net zero journey and moves us closer to our target of becoming operational net zero carbon.”
