A burst-prone water main in Waltham St Lawrence is to be replaced in a £230,000 investment.
South East Water will replace more than 450 metres of pipeline in Broadmoor Road, which has suffered six bursts within the last five years, resulting in low pressure or no water for residents.
Work to replace the main is due to start on Monday, 9 October, with temporary traffic lights in place from the junction with Shurlock Road to just after the junction with Pool Lane.
South East Water, Project Manager Jeremy Dufour, said: “This is an important project for us as we look to replace a water main that has burst six times within the last five years.
“This is unacceptable to us and we have identified this as a key investment to improve our water supply network and ensure that residents in Waltham St Lawrence do not experience the same issues with low pressure or no water.
“We are sorry for any disruption this vital project may cause and we’ll be working as quickly and safely as possible to try to finish ahead of schedule.”
Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may also be some activity at weekends. The project is expected to take around 16 weeks to complete.
