We can all help save water

Taking place between 15 and 19 May, Water Saving Week is an annual week created by Waterwise(opens in a new tab) to raise awareness of the issues around excessive water use.

It may feel like the UK has a lot of water (and rainfall), but with growing pressures such as climate change and population growth, it can't be taken for granted. It's so important we work together to protect this precious resource. This year we are focussing on the broader impact that water will have on our future and how vital water efficiency is.

Each day of Water Saving Week has been allocated a theme to raise awareness of how living more sustainably and being mindful of our water use will help us adapt to climate change, save time and money on household bills and protect our planet.

Thursday: Embedded Water

Water is used in many forms of production, from food to clothing and motors to energy. Did you know 287 litres of water is required to make just 1kg of potatoes?

Being mindful of food waste is just one way to be sure there will always be enough water for everyone.

Friday: Water and Hygiene

From general everyday living to combating deadly diseases, it's important to ensure there will always be enough water for everybody.

Turning off the tap when brushing your teeth will make a big difference.

We can all help save water

We all need to do our bit to save water, protect the environment, be resilient against climate change and secure our water supplies for the future generations. You may even save money too.

There are lots of ways you can help by making just a few simple swaps...
